Kiosks Go Live
Kiosks go live
Pair a physical tablet to a room with a 6-digit code, and it becomes a licensed, on-site guest assistant — with cleaner mode built in for staff.
A guest link works from any phone, but a lobby or in-room kiosk needed something a link alone can't provide: hardware that's paired, licensed, and ready before a guest ever taps it.
The problem
Hosts had no way to deploy physical, always-on devices tied to a specific room, license them individually, or hand staff a way to manage room status without giving out the owner login.
What shipped
- Kiosk pairing — a host generates a 6-digit code from the Devices tab; the tablet enters it and pairs to a specific unit
- Per-device licensing — each kiosk gets its own trial period and Stripe subscription (see Kiosk devices now license and bill per device for the billing details specifically)
- Stays tracking — booked, in-house, checked-out, cancelled, visible to hosts
- Cleaner mode — a property-level PIN lets cleaning staff mark units dirty/in-progress/ready without full account access
- Property- and unit-specific guest links, so a multi-room property could give each room its own link
Why it matters
Kiosks are one of HOWI's most visible surfaces. Getting pairing, licensing, and cleaner mode right in the same release meant hosts could go from "box arrives" to "kiosk answering guest questions" the same day.
